Areas of study of each department, and educational organizational structure

Modern brain science is a comprehensive research field involving physiology, anatomy, molecular biology, and psychology. In other words, to decipher the functioning of the complex nervous system, we must have a comprehensive understanding of molecules and up to animal behaviors obtained from cutting-edge research. The core of the graduate school is eight research laboratories in three areas of brain research: molecular, systems, and pathological neuroscience. These laboratories actively research the nervous system using state-of-the-art methods in physiology, anatomy, and molecular biology, and thus are able to offer a powerful training environment for students to become next-generation scientists in neuroscience.
